As prices go up, now’s the time to innovate your business and get a GRIP on your costs

The cost-of-living crisis is affecting us all, both as individuals and organisations. Fuel, energy, and raw materials are becoming more expensive, and everywhere costs are going up and business profits are being cut into.

It’s no surprise then that business owners are seeking ways to make their organisations more efficient, more effective, and doing everything they can to cut costs, reduce their overheads and maximise profits.

So what can you do to help achieve this? One thing is to think strategically about ways you can cut your energy use. By reducing your organisation’s carbon footprint and cutting the amount of waste you produce, you will not only be making your business leaner and more profitable, you will be helping the planet too!

Another thing you can do is to think innovatively about your business. What can you do differently? Perhaps you might consider introducing new processes, offering new products or opening new markets?

This may sound a little daunting, but fortunately for businesses in North and West Northamptonshire, you don’t have to do this alone. The Green Recovery and Innovation Programme (GRIP) is an initiative funded by the Government via the UK Community Renewal Fund and delivered by SEMLEP’s Growth Hub. It is designed to make it as easy as possible for businesses to become more efficient, more innovative, and more successful.

The programme consists of one-to-one support with a range of experts, including innovation and energy specialists to help business leaders discuss, identify and develop their innovation and sustainability plans. After this, participants attend a workshop designed to help boost their productivity and make their business more sustainable.

Businesses also have the opportunity to apply for grants of up to £10,000 to spend on specialist consultancy support and small capital items of up to £5,000 (50% private sector match required), and to support the innovations that will help make their business more sustainable.

By participating in the GRIP programme, business leaders will not only be making their organisations more innovative and sustainable, you will be making them more efficient and profitable by reducing waste and cutting costs at a time when expenses are soaring and it’s worth saving every single penny.
