SUCCESS STORY

From humble to happening – a clear business direction for HMS Evolve

8 August 2018

HMS Evolve provides cloud-based services to SMEs. Set up in Milton Keynes by friends Ben and Seb in 2015, the company began from humble beginnings. Both are running the company alongside their full-time jobs.

“We’ve been bumbling along working full time so it’s been a struggle to understand and focus on the key business areas” said Ben.

They wanted a clear business direction, achievable business goals and an action plan of how to get there.

Whilst at a local entrepreneur networking event, Ben was told about Velocity Growth Hub and got in touch. He immediately booked on to three of the Growth Hub project’s workshops: enhancing your brand, writing a marketing plan and pitching for business.

“Being a small business owner, you have to wear so many different hats. One day you are working directly with a client, the next you are focusing on your marketing strategy, the next your dealing with the business accounts. It can be hard to find the time and resource to improve your business processes.”

Following up from the workshops, Ben and Seb met with Velocity business adviser, Emmanuelle Clement. Through one-to-one support, they discussed the business in depth and focused in on deciding their business goals and objectives. With the support from Emmanuelle, they were able to write a clear, achievable, actionable business plan.

“Emmanuelle has been brilliant, she has helped us define where we are, where we want to be and how to get there.”

Ben and Seb have a better understanding of their business. They now know where to focus, they understand their strengths and weaknesses and are looking at how to move the business forward.

Any tips for other businesses looking to grow their business?

“Take a look at the Velocity Growth Hub, they have a vast range of support available including workshops, one-to-one support, grant funding and a free business marketplace.

Your growth hub business adviser will work directly with you to develop a clear action plan on how to achieve your business goals. I can’t recommend them enough”
