Supporting businesses to identify and develop net zero strategies
We’ve created the South East Midlands Net Zero Hub to help businesses identify the variety of local net zero support across the region. Our aim is to provide all businesses with the correct support, guidance, resources and funding opportunities to transform our region’s carbon footprint for the better.
In 2023 the Growth Hub undertook Carbon Literacy training with Positive Planet, and we’re proud to say we are now certified as Carbon Literate. As part of this certifcation, the Growth Hub team has pledged to reduce our carbon footprint ahead of the 2050 deadline. Initially, we’ve focused on some core areas where we can make immediate change to our organisations. These areas include:
1) How and where we source equipment, food and other items. We’ve pledged, where possible to only source materials from local providers, who are making a conscious effort to reduce their own carbon emissions
2) Moving forward we will be scheduling dedicated co-working days to reduce the amount amount of energy need to power multiple homes
3) Being proactive with the businesses we work, encouraging them to make a positive impact on climate change
4) Working closely with the six Local Authorities that make up the South East Midlands, to align carbon reduction strategies and ensure we support each other to achieve success
Hitting net zero shouldn’t be a burden on your business. Instead, it should be an opportunity to make substantial change to both your organisation, and our planet. The challenge of ensuring your business hits its net zero targets can feel overwhelming, and finding the right information, support, and best practice isn’t easy.
Together with Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes, Luton, North Northants and West Northants, we’ve collated the net zero support available to businesses. Each of the six Local Authorities have developed their own approach to reducing carbon emissions, ranging from guidance to funded support.
