Northampton Business Buddies is a unique mentoring programme. Created by the James Saunders Watson, Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire, Northampton Business Buddies brings together leaders from the best businesses across the county.
Lord Lieutenant Watson recognised that running a business isn’t a straightforward path to success. There are many challenges and multiple pitfalls to overcome. Running your own business can often feel lonely and uncertain, even for those business that are seeing growth. Lord Lietenant Watson wanted to establish a programme that opened channels of communication between Northamptonshire’s leading business professionals and its future leaders, to suppport them on the journey.

Business Buddies is made up of 10 mentors, including Kings Award winners, Non Executive Directors and CEOs who’ve volunteered to provide support to businesses. You’re mentor will provide a fresh perspective, be a sounding board for ideas and innovation, and offering advice and guidance to help you build confidence to drive forward your business plans.
Our mentors have years of experience building and leading successful businesses. If you require strategic support or you’re looking to enhance your leadership capabilities, Business Buddies is the programme for you.
You’ll be carefully paired with a mentor who has the right experience to support your organisation. We’re not focused on matching sector to sector, or industry to industry. Our objective is to pair you with a mentor who can provide you with support and experience most relevant to your business challenges and objectives.
This is a unique opportunity to tap into the extensive knowledge of Northampton’s best and brightest business leaders. You’ll learn, observe and receive support from leaders who’ve experienced and overcome the challenges you’re business may face, and have chartered their route to success.
Once paired with a mentor, you’ll receive 8 hours of one-to-one support, over a 4 month period.

Create your action plan
To apply for Northampton Business Buddies, you need to:
Have a business based in Northamptonshire
Be experiencing or projecting high growth in the next 2 to 3 years
Have a minimum of 2 employees
Current annual turnover of £1.5 million or greater
How to apply
To apply, please complete the online Expression of Interest form found below. Once the Expression of Interest form is complete, you will be contacted by a Growth Hub business adviser within five working days. If eligible, the business adviser will advise you to proceed to full application.
