Now is the best time to aim for growth

Should you aim for growth?

With Brexit negotiations and warnings on the impact on growth hitting the headlines regularly, we’d be forgiven in thinking business is in stalemate in deciding on whether or not to invest in growth.

The reality however, is that in the South East Midlands, we continue to remain one of the most successful places to start and grow a business.

There’s lots going on behind the scenes to make sure that small and medium-sized businesses are well-supported to see Brexit as an opportunity and mitigate the threats. You just need to know what’s out there in terms of business support.

Support available

Did you know that there are around 20 projects, funded through European funding, available right now to help local businesses to develop and grow? Whether that be by enhancing your management skills, accessing research or expertise to help turn ideas into business reality, developing your export plans, being more effective with your marketing or training, or retraining, your employees. Whatever your business growth ideas and needs, it’s likely that there will be support – often free –  there to help you get on and achieve it.

This is where Velocity, SEMLEP’s Growth Hub can really help. Velocity is the one place you can head, to get to know what support is available to you.

The Growth Hub role is to simplify information about, and access to, the many business support programmes out there so local businesses get the right support they need when they need it. The Growth Hub adviser team is available to talk directly to you about your business ambitions.  As part of the offer, Velocity also run a project funded through the European Regional Development Fund. This enables Velocity to give business owners over 12 hours of focused support, delivered through one-to-one advice sessions or through interactive workshops that cover a range of topics including finance, marketing and project management. There is also an opportunity to access the Growth Hub’s grant programme. This can provide ambitious businesses with capital grants to help purchase equipment or improve premises or, with revenue grants to pay for specialist consultancy or to improve business processes or systems.

At the start of a new financial year, now is the time to aim for growth. Whatever your ambitions or business challenges you’re facing, you’ll be well-supported.  The best way to get to know about what’s available to you is to get in touch with your Growth Hub. Call today on 0300 01234 35
