Our area is forecast to grow at the fastest pace in England. And, as enhanced cooperation and connectivity across the Oxford-Cambridge Arc is realised, growth expectations and opportunities will accelerate.

Residents and businesses need to know how this growth will be managed and how it will benefit them, what impact this will have on our local community, and the plans local leadership has to ensure that our future economy is successful, inclusive and sustainable.

The Local Industrial Strategy, published in July 2019, sets out priorities and commitments made to plan and manage economic growth in a way that will support our area’s businesses to succeed, our communities to prosper and our local environment to flourish.

The SEMLEP AGM is your opportunity to ask questions about these plans, the partnership that will deliver them and how local business and residents can get involved.

After the official AGM business we will hear from RSPB’s Michael Copleston, Head of Land, who says, “collaboration between industry, local government and organisations such as the RSPB can make our area’s natural landscape measurably better than it is today, not despite economic growth but because of it.”

Martin Garratt, Chief Executive of Cambridge CleanTech and Oxfordshire GreenTech will talk to us about the opportunities for the growing cluster of clean and green tech firms operating in this area and how connecting this across the Ox-Cam Arc will improve how we embed technology into building the places of our future.

And, a representative from the Connected Places Catapult will walk us through the pilot schemes that are pushing businesses to go further and faster in creating solutions in a move towards a zero-carbon economy.

At this year’s event, we are inviting people to submit questions to the panel prior to the meeting. The panel will include: Peter Horrocks CBE, Mary Clarke, Cllr Richard Wenham, Jon Corbett, Hilary Chipping and Judith Barker. Questions will be shared with the Board ahead of the AGM. Questions can be submitted here. Questions and answers will be published on our website after the event. Please note, we will be recording the AGM and event to create a highlights video.
